Recommendation Letter - Dr. Al Nauda

December 15, 2003

Subject: Letter of Recommendation for Jon-Michael "Clay" Brook

To Whom it May Concern:

Clay Brook worked under my supervision as a Principal Investigator from January 2002 until October 2003. His responsibilities included conducting research into scalable intrusion detection systems for securing computer networks. His creative accomplishments led to inventions for which Raytheon is seeking patents. Clay also led proposal efforts for contract R&D opportunities. Clay is a creative self-starter, personable, a good communicator, and very enthusiastic. He has expressed his interest in pursuing a Masters in Business Administration. I would highly recommend him for such graduate study.

I was quite impressed by Clay's ability to complete all work assigned to him on time, especially since he was multi-tasked. His research was always thorough and comprehensive, and he successfully managed a team of researchers distributed geographically across the country. We encourage or principal investigators to develop leadership skill and manage their own accounts, but Clay's talents prompted us to assign him more responsibilities than the norm. Those additional responsibilities included pursuing supplemental funds to expand our research and development efforts and for process improvements as part of our Six-Sigma program.

Overall, Clay is a very conscientious and able employee, and I was sad to see him leave Raytheon. I certainly believe he has what it takes to make a wonderful manager, and the creativity and perseverance to be an entrepreneur someday. I strongly recommend Clay for any graduate program.

Sincerely,
